Product Description
The whole background is stippled — a fine pebbled field that holds the oxidation and stays dark — and every element that matters is polished, so the figure of the saint, the clouds and the mountains all sit in front of that darkness with a hard edge. That contrast is what the oxidized finish is for: without the stipple the relief would flatten out into a grey disc at arm's length.
St. Sebastian stands bound at the centre, loincloth at the hip, arrows through his chest and side, the tree trunk and banner of his martyrdom behind him. A cherub hovers at the upper left, and the ground beneath him breaks into a ridge of sharp peaks. The rim is raised and lettered ST SEBASTIAN above and PRAY FOR US below, with a small cross set at the left and right shoulder of the ring. The reverse carries five lines of raised text — ST. SEBASTIAN, BESTOWMENT, OF STRENGTH, AND PROTECTION, PRAY FOR US — framed top and bottom by scroll ornaments on the same stippled ground.
Measurements: 27.1mm / 1.07in across the disc, 35.6mm / 1.40in in total height including the bail, 7.07g / 0.25oz. The bail is a tapered teardrop in polished metal, wide enough for a rope chain or a leather cord, and the whole pendant is nickel-free and lead-free. St. Sebastian is the patron of athletes, soldiers and anyone facing illness, and he is one of the few male saints whose medals sell steadily outside the devotional market — the arrows and the bound figure read as strength to buyers who would never describe themselves as religious. Reversible, so the inscription can face out as easily as the saint.
